PMTCT — HIV+ pregnant women on lifelong ART — HIV / AIDS M&E Indicator

PMTCT = Prevention of Mother-To-Child Transmission. Percentage of HIV-positive pregnant women who received lifelong ART (Antiretroviral Therapy) to prevent passing HIV to their baby during pregnancy, delivery or breastfeeding. UNAIDS GAM (Global AIDS Monitoring) indicator 2.1; tracks WHO Option B+ implementation (lifelong ART for all HIV-positive pregnant/breastfeeding women regardless of CD4 count — CD4 cells are the immune-system white blood cells that HIV destroys, and CD4 count was historically used to decide when to start treatment)
