Indigenous Data Sovereignty in the Age of AI

Data is increasingly described as the “new oil”. But for Indigenous and local communities, data can be far more consequential: it can contain their identity, culture, land, health, language and traditional knowledge. Indigenous Data Sovereignty therefore asks a fundamental question: Who owns the story that data tells about a community—and who gets to decide what happens to it?
