Can I create and publish a survey while offline?

No. Create and publish the questionnaire while connected, then open the saved survey on each field device before travel. When offline capture is enabled, FieldNotes can collect responses to a survey already available on the device; AI survey generation and server publishing need a connection. Test the prepared survey in airplane mode before deployment.

How do I collect survey data offline in a remote area?

With offline capture enabled for the account, open FieldNotes and the saved survey while online before leaving. In the field, complete and save responses on the device; offline submissions stay local until connectivity returns. Reopen the app online and verify the responses have synced before clearing local app data or changing devices. Unsynced records are not yet visible in the project dashboard. KoboToolbox's official guide also recommends preparing forms before disconnecting and sending saved submissions after reconnection.

Which languages does the data collection support?

Surveys display and collect in 12 languages (English plus 11 Indian languages): English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Assamese. Vani voice transcription supports 12 languages (English plus 11 Indian languages).

How reliable is GPS verification during field collection?

GPS capture is best-effort, not proof of a visit. The browser asks for location permission and stores the coordinates and reported accuracy when the device provides them; denied permission, unavailable location, or a timeout can leave a record without coordinates. Review the accuracy value and corroborate important evidence rather than treating a GPS point as independently verified.
