Frequently asked questions
How quickly can I create a Theory of Change?
Describe the project and FieldNotes drafts an editable pathway from activities to outputs, outcomes, and impact. Treat the AI draft as a starting point: the project team should review assumptions, risks, and the causal links before using it for decisions or reporting.
How do I link voice notes and GPS to an M&E indicator?
In Voice Notes, allow microphone and location access, choose the project, record the note, review the transcript, select the relevant indicator, and save. When an indicator is selected, FieldNotes adds the voice note as linked project evidence; GPS coordinates are attached only when the browser can provide them. If offline capture is enabled, offline recordings are queued locally; transcription/translation runs after reconnection. GPS can be denied, unavailable, or imprecise, so review its reported accuracy. The link records evidence; it does not automatically extract a numeric indicator value or link the note to a survey response.

What kinds of indicators can I track?
The library covers programme measures across sectors such as health, education, livelihoods, WASH, gender, and climate. Choose or adapt an indicator to fit the project's population, definition, unit, baseline, target, and collection method before comparing results.
Can I generate donor reports from the dashboard?
Yes. FieldNotes can assemble project evidence such as synced survey responses, PRA records, voice notes, and GPS details into M&E and donor-reporting workflows. Review the source records and confirm that the evidence supports each reported result before sharing a report.
